New Hampshire legalized sports betting in July 2019, making it the 14th state to do so after the Supreme Court struck down PASPA. Governor Chris Sununu signed HB 480 into law on July 16, 2019. Online betting launched on December 30, 2019, with a ceremonial wager placed by the governor himself. DraftKings is the ONLY authorized online sports betting operator in the state. The state granted DraftKings market exclusivity in exchange for a 51-49 revenue split, making this one of America's most unusual sports betting structures.

New Jersey was the trailblazer. The Garden State became the second state (after Delaware) to offer legal sports betting after the Supreme Court struck down PASPA on May 14, 2018. Governor Phil Murphy signed Assembly Bill A4111 into law on June 11, 2018. Retail betting launched immediately on June 14, 2018, with online betting following in August 2018. Today, New Jersey has 14 licensed online sportsbooks competing aggressively for market share. The state charges competitive taxes (8.5-14.25% depending on operator type and channel) and operates a well-regulated market.

Rhode Island legalized sports betting quickly after the Supreme Court struck down PASPA on May 14, 2018. Governor Gina Raimondo signed the state budget including sports betting provisions into law on June 22, 2018. The first legal sports bet was placed at Twin River Casino on November 26, 2018, making Rhode Island the eighth state to offer legal sports betting. Online betting launched on September 4, 2019 via Sportsbook RI, a state-run platform powered by IGT (International Game Technology). Remote registration became available on July 28, 2020, removing the requirement to visit a casino in person.
